Testing Your DNA
A final word on DNA testing companies. There are more companies advertising everyday on the Internet, wanting to test your DNA to establish your family tree, or determine your geographic origins. These companies incur much discussion and controversy. Much of the criticism revolves around whether the technology available today, is able to accomplish this feat.
It seems to be accepted that they are able to determine whether you and another person are related. It also may be possible for them to go back a few generations on your family tree. If you do a little simple math however, you will find that if you go back as few as five generations, staring with your parents, you will have 62 different ancestors. That is a huge amount of research and that is only 5 generations.
So if you decide to go ahead with DNA testing, be realistic in your expectations and be cautious were you spend your money.
